About Us
Perpetual Obscurity Records is a retail company formed by Paul Thorn and his creative/business partner Billy Maddox to facilitate the sale of Paul's music and merchandise. Yes, they are independent musicians creating and distributing their art and products independently and in-house. As a very small business without a lot of extra fingers in the pie, we think you will find our products reasonably priced and our service very friendly and personal.
Paul Thorn is a Mississippi-raised son of a preacher man who spent much of his childhood in church, participating in multiple weekly services with his father as well as at neighboring African American congregations, where he became entranced with the music whose infectious spirit is captured on his new album. Don't Let the Devil Ride collects soulful songs originally cut by black southern gospel groups and features guests the Blind Boys of Alabama, The McCrary Sisters, the Preservation Hall Jazz Horns, and Bonnie Bishop.
